3. Information we collect and how we collect it

No registration or login is required to read this site. The information we collect is as follows.

3-1. Information collected through the contact form

We use the plugin “Contact Form 7” to provide our contact form. When you submit the form, we collect the following.

  • Your name or handle
  • Your email address
  • The subject and content of your enquiry
  • The date and time of submission, the sending IP address, and browser information (user agent)

We use this information to respond to your enquiry, to make any necessary follow-up contact, to keep a record, and to prevent misuse. Submitted content is stored on the server we use and in the mailbox the operator receives mail through.

The contact form is provided for enquiries about the content of our articles, rights matters, interviews and other communications. We cannot respond to requests for individual consultation or advice on investment decisions. Completing the form is voluntary, but if you do not provide the required fields we may be unable to respond.

3-2. Information collected through analytics

To improve our content and the quality of our analysis, we use Google Analytics (GA4), an analytics service provided by Google LLC.

Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as:

  • The pages viewed and the path taken through the site
  • The date, time and duration of the visit, and how the visit ended
  • The referral source (search engine, external site, social media and so on)
  • The browser, operating system, device type and screen size used
  • The approximate region estimated from the IP address

This information is collected anonymously; we do not receive it in a form that allows us to identify a specific individual. For how Google handles data, please see the following.

If you wish to stop Google Analytics from collecting information, you can use the opt-out add-on below or disable cookies in your browser settings.

3-3. Information collected through advertising

To cover the cost of running the site, we plan to introduce the third-party advertising service “Google AdSense” in the future.

Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies and similar technologies to serve advertisements based on a visitor’s prior visits to this site and to other sites. As a result, advertisements matching a visitor’s interests may be displayed.

You can disable personalized advertising and change your ad settings from the following.

Information collected through advertising is controlled by each advertising vendor. We do not have access to its content, and we do not obtain it in a form that identifies an individual visitor.

3-4. Bookmark (save) feature

This site provides a bookmark feature that lets you save articles and indicator reviews. No registration or login is required.

Where it is storedA storage area inside your own browser (localStorage)
What is storedOnly the post ID (a number) of the saved content
Maximum number saved200. Once the limit is exceeded, the oldest entries drop out first.
Stored on our serverNo
Identification of the visitorNo

Only post IDs are stored. No name, email address, browsing history or other personal information is saved. The operator cannot retrieve or view the bookmarks of any particular visitor.

However, when the bookmark list page (https://vowars.com/en/bookmark/) is displayed, the post IDs stored in your browser are sent to our server so that the corresponding titles, excerpts and images can be retrieved and shown as a list. This transmission takes place solely to display the list. We do not store the transmitted post IDs, nor do we record them against individual visitors. Note that this communication may be recorded in the server access logs described below, in the same form as any other access.

Please note the following, which follow from the nature of the feature.

  • Saved items apply only to the device and browser used. They do not carry over to another device or browser.
  • Saved items may be erased if you clear your browsing history or site data, use private browsing, run out of browser storage, or if the browser’s behavior changes.
  • The feature does not work in environments where local storage is unavailable due to browser settings.
  • You can remove saved items by using the unbookmark control on each piece of content, or by clearing site data in your browser.

3-5. View counts

We count views per piece of content, in order to display popular content and to inform our editorial planning. Only cumulative and daily totals per piece of content are recorded. No IP address, cookie or visitor-identifying information is used or stored. Daily figures are deleted automatically after a set period.

3-6. Server access logs

The server hosting this site automatically records access logs for the purposes of stable operation, fault response and prevention of unauthorized access. The main items recorded are the date and time of access, IP address, requested URL, referring URL and browser information. We do not use these for any other purpose, and we do not analyze them in order to identify individual visitors.

3-7. Loading of external services

Some content on this site causes your browser to connect directly to the external services below in order to load images. When this happens, your IP address and browser information are sent to the provider of that service. We do not receive this information.
